How we pick the winner

    Is it useful?

    Does it solve a real problem that real people have? Small and everyday beats grand and vague.

  2. 02

    Is it fresh?

    A new idea, or a familiar one done in a way that clearly beats what's out there.

    Could it be built?

    It doesn't need to be easy, but we should be able to picture the first version.

The rules, in plain English

Who can enter?

Anyone aged 16 or over living in the UK. Northbytes staff and their families can't enter.

Can I enter more than once?

Yes. Send as many ideas as you like, one form per idea. Each idea is judged on its own.

Do I need to know how to code or draw screens?

No. A couple of sentences describing what the app does and who it's for is all we need.

Who owns my idea?

You do. Entering doesn't give us any rights to it, and we won't build it or share it without asking you first.

When and how is the winner picked?

Entries close at 11:59pm on 19 December 2026. The Northbytes team judges every idea on usefulness, originality and whether it could be built, and we contact the winner by email or phone within 14 days. If we can't reach the winner within 28 days, we pick the next best idea.

Is this run by Amazon?

No. Amazon is not a sponsor of this competition and isn't involved in it. The prize is a £50 Amazon.co.uk gift card with no cash alternative. Gift cards are subject to Amazon's terms, see amazon.co.uk/gc-legal.
