What the £45 actually buys, line by line

Maintenance plans are usually vague on purpose. Here is ours itemised, dated to the date on this page, so you can hold it against anyone else's quote.

Infrastructure and TLS

Hosting on Fly.io in London, HTTPS certificates issued and renewed automatically, and a CDN in front of static assets. £90 a month if your site runs a database.

Backups and tested restores

Automated daily database backups with a defined retention window, and restores actually rehearsed, not assumed. An untested backup is not a backup.

Monitoring and alerting

Uptime checks and error monitoring through Sentry, alerting us, not you. We usually know something is wrong before your users tell you.

Dependency and security updates

Libraries and frameworks kept current and security patches applied promptly, so you never fall years behind and face an expensive forced upgrade.

Bug fixes included

When something breaks, we fix it as part of the plan. Not a separate quote for every small repair, which is where most care plans quietly earn their margin.

What is not included

New features and design changes are quoted separately as development work, and heavy usage above the plan is charged as capacity used. Everything else above is in the £45.

How the arrangement works

Hosting is a flat £45 a month, or £90 a month if your site runs a database. That covers the infrastructure, the monitoring, the updates, and the fixes.

If your site takes off - heavy bandwidth, lots of stored data, or enough simultaneous users that we scale you across extra servers - usage charges are added on top, because we auto-scale to meet demand rather than let your site go down. Your site never goes offline for being busy; the bill just reflects the extra capacity it used. If you'd rather have certainty, we can cap your maximum monthly charge and you'll never pay more than the cap.

And as with everything we do, it all stays yours: domains, accounts, data, and code. If you ever want to move, we'll hand everything over cleanly and help you do it. We'd rather you stay because it works than because you're stuck.

Can you host a site or system someone else built?

Usually, yes. We'll look at what you have first and be honest about its condition: most sites and systems can move to our infrastructure as they are, some need small repairs first, and occasionally we'll tell you a rebuild is cheaper than life support. Either way you'll know before committing to anything.
