Website development in Kent

There is a point where a website stops being pages and starts being software: customers log in, book, pay, or manage their own data. That is the work this page is about.

We are a Medway studio and we write the code ourselves. Fixed quote before anything starts, and the source is yours at twelve months.

When a site becomes development work

The line is not the number of pages. It is whether anything is stored, changed or paid for.

Bookings and appointments

Availability, reminders, cancellations and the awkward edge cases: double bookings, timezone drift, someone rescheduling twice.

Shops and payments

Product pages, baskets, checkout and Stripe. Real engineering, and priced above a brochure site for that reason.

Customer portals and logins

Anywhere a customer signs in to see their own data, which brings authentication, permissions and a duty of care about how that data is stored.

Integrations

Connecting the site to a CRM, accounting tool, mailing list or calendar. Costs per integration and usually pays for itself in saved admin.

Built properly, because this part bites

A brochure site that is badly built is slow. A booking system that is badly built takes double payments, loses records and cannot be audited afterwards.

So the boring things are standard here: encrypted storage, an audit trail where one matters, backups, dependency updates and security patches. We also run website security audits as a service, which is a reasonable signal about how seriously we take the topic.

What it costs to run

Development work starts from £500 as a fixed quote. Hosting and maintenance for a site with a database is £90 a month, which covers infrastructure in London, HTTPS, CDN, monitoring, backups, dependency updates, security patches and bug fixes.

New features and design changes are quoted separately rather than absorbed silently. No lock-in and no minimum term after year one.

Common questions

What is the difference between web design and website development?

Design is what the site looks like and how it reads. Development is what it does: storing data, taking payments, letting people log in. A brochure site is mostly design work. A booking system or shop is mostly development, and is priced from £500 rather than carrying no build fee.

How much does website development cost in Kent?

From £500 for a site with a database or custom backend, as a fixed quote agreed before work starts. Web apps and SaaS products start from £1,500. Hosting with a database is £90 a month.

Do you use WordPress?

Not by default. We build as code, which is why performance, accessibility and technical SEO come as standard rather than as plugins to configure and keep patched. If you already have a WordPress site we will tell you honestly whether rebuilding is worth it.
